South Battery Street

Starting the week with classics, inspired by Kate Middleton of course! In honor of the royal wedding anniversary, here is an ensemble worthy of the future queen herself (but on a real girl's budget, of course c; ).
South Battery Street

Wallis white bag, $35   I initially chose this bag because it worked with the ensemble (and would look great with many others), but I JUST noticed the name; Wallis.  How fitting for an outfit inspired by the royals.
TOTAL: ~$187.60

Elliot Street

Spring (as well as this wonderful pleated skirt) calls for COLORS.  A bright green timepiece, a sunny yellow satchel, and rosy cheeks add an element of spring to any ensemble.

East Battery Street

I cannot even express to you how much I love this ensemble.  Now I promise I love every outfit that you see here, but this holds a special place for me.  With my favorite TOMS, nautical accents intermixed with exotic accessories and my signature scent, I can't get enough of this.  Perfect for traipsing down The Battery.

East Battery Street

V neck dress, $20  A striped v-neck dress, such as this, is perfect for layering and accessorizing to the max.
V neck cardigan, $20  Cardigans are a daily part of my life, whether it's for a chilly morning or the SUPER INSANE air conditioning at work, they are essential
TOMS ballet flat, $74  You can never go wrong with TOMS flats. ever.
Old Navy straw tote, $23 Fiesta tote!  I'm so in love with this, it my officially become mine this weekend ;)
Knot jewelry, $20 Rope bracelet; the perfect way to add a little nautical love to an outfit.  I actually have a headband identical to this that would look great as well.
Gold stud earrings, $50  Emeralds  are always appropriate.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Pendant, $13 The exaggerated details on this seahorse pendant make me love it so much.
Revlon lipstick, $8.43 A pop of color on your face, to accompany your beautiful eyes.
Christian Dior fragrance, $66  Everyone needs a signature scent, and this is mine.
TOTAL:~$294.43

Feeling a little preppy today, so a color-block, Victoria Beckham-esque dress is in order.  Classic accessories, cat eyes, and pink lips perfectly compliment this navy and nude dress.
Calhoun Street

Pippa Shop, £195 or $330
TOTAL:~$564.99

In typical spring fashion, the rains came this weekend making is necessary to continue cardigan wear for a few more days.  I love this skirt, and I can already think of a few dozen other outfits centralized on this skirt.  And natural stone earrings?? My absolute favorite.

weekend wear

It may be raining this weekend, but I'll be damned if I'm not prepared for the sun!  Perhaps I just need to make a date with the Caribbean to make use of this lovely beach look ;)

Rutledge Avenue

It's pretty yucky outside today weather-wise, but the sun is supposed to be back by Sunday (oh the irony), so there will definitely be some beach time!  I love this play on stripes and a nautical theme with the straw, ropes, and the seahorse. :)  Here's to a beautiful day in the rain!

Rutledge Avenue

Dress, $53  Modcloth; The arrangement of the stripes on this dress and the differentiations in the pattern make this dress super flattering.
Cardigan, $20  I realize that by itself, this is pretty dull.  But it is a STAPLE, and it is perfect for a rainy day.
Seychelles shoes, $100  Ya'll know how much I love these shoes already.  Perfect for everything.
Old Navy tote bag, $18  I love this straw tote because of it's great texture; it helps add some life to an essential part of an outfit.  And it would be great for the beach too ;)
Bracelet, $20  Navy Rope Bracelet?!?  AMAZING.
Forever 21 earrings, $5.80  These are some very classy earrings that would work for numerous outfits.  They come in black as well, for evening.
Pendant, $13  Since I live at the beach, and love a good nautical theme, I can't live without this seahorse ;)
TOTAL: ~$229.8

Cannon Street

As I stated the other day, I love a navy dress.  So much so that it inspired me again, but this time tribal jewelry is the statement.  I am so in love with these accessories and how well they compliment one another and the dress; a perfect mix of ethnic and downtown.

Cannon Street

Blue dress, $25 A staple in my closet
Nine west wedge, $89  Now these look very daunting, but the striped toe-straps are too inviting to pass up.
Linen handbag, $30 A SUPER staple, as it goes with EVERYTHING.
Forever 21 beaded bangle, $13  The colors in this bracelet compliment the shoes perfectly, and it's fabric so it's lightweight.
Forever 21 chain jewelry, $6.80 I believe I've said this about another or a similar necklace, but this looks like it was plucked right off of a Mycenaean princess ;)
Forever 21 faux jewelry, $3.80  To me, the only accessory that screams Native American more than beautiful bright bead work, it a giant piece of turquoise.
Urban Outfitters hair pins accessory, $12 Bobby pins that look like branches?!?!
TOTAL:~$179.60

Coming Street

I may have said this before, but I LOVE basic dresses jazzed up with gorgeous accessories!  This tank dress is perfect for this weather we are currently experiencing in Charleston; cool in the mornings, and VERY warm in the afternoons.  And when is navy not perfection?  really?

Coming Street

Blue dress, $25  Like I said above, when can you ever go wrong with navy?  NEVER.
Seychelles strappy platform sandals, $90 These Seychelles sandals are not only adorable, but they are very practical for running around the city all day.  Ankle straps such as these are actually my all-time favorite for heeled or wedged sandals because, not only are they very cute, they hold to the foot very well instead of clapping around and making clopping noises (as in the "heeled horse", i.e. the girls who wear shoes that they cannot walk in, and end up walking like a horse.  not cute).
Modalu handbag, £195, $309  My favorite.  And in a beautiful nude shade no less.
Forever 21 antique jewelry, $5.80  Ok, tell me these don't look like they were taken straight from the ears of a Mycenaean princess.  That's right you can't.
Forever 21 ring, $5.80  Now I'm not really into entymology, but this is a beautiful speciment ;)
Forever 21 rainbow jewelry, $4.80 Ethnic bracelets - perfect for EVERY outfit.
Silk shawl ~$20  Just to get you from your car to a sunny spot when it's a little chilly in the mornings. ;)
TOTAL: ~$460.40

Meeting Street

Epic, anxious, and nervous-to-the-point-of-vomiting don't even begin to describe today.  I wish I could say what is going on, but that would be very unprofessional of me.  So wish me luck and sunnier skies tomorrow!

I love today's ensemble.  Cool tones with just the right punches of pink for a fresh spring face seriously make me go weak in the knees.

Meeting Street

Ruffle dress, $20  These colors are fantastic and I love the ruffle and pleating details; it's a simple dress with enough sass to keep you from needing too much jewelry to jazz it up.
Toms shoes, $74  TOMS. BALLET. FLATS.  what more can I say?
Leather shoulder bag, £195  I must confess that I have TOTALLY jumped on board the Pippa-Loveboat, and am obsessed with this bag.  It really is perfect in so many ways (besides the price).
Forever 21 antique jewelry, $6.80  You can never go wrong with tribal jewelry.
Sterling silver dangle earrings, ~$20 I love the deco shape of these earrings and how they are interesting without being overpowering.
Forever 21 aviator sunglasses, $5.80  I love aviators, and I love cheap sunglasses.  If you're like me, I lose, break, sit on, etc. them so much, it's just not worth spending $200+.
Maybelline blush, $6 Creme blush that feels like playdough??? It would be completely worth the purchase just to feel it, but luckily it's a great product too with very good color pay-off.
Revlon beauty product, $7.49 I am very interested to try Revlon's new Lip Butters, especially since super saturated lipstick is not my favorite thing, and this promises lots of moisture and light, natural color.

White Point Garden

I just watched @Dooce on the Today show, and it was a fantastic interview.  Despite the fact that she's a mommyblogger and I don't really have any concerns or need for the 'mommy' part, she is hilarious and I really admire her honesty in telling about her life, great AND ugly.

In other news, oooh how I love a nautical theme. I'm fairly certain some of these pieces (hello modcloth dress!) should will must be making their way into my closet fairly soon!

weekend wear une

Here in Charleston, the weekend means going to the beach (or at least the pool)!  Swimwear is mandatory on Saturdays and Sundays, as it ample sunscreen.  The beach itself is still a little chilly/windy, but in two weeks, once it heats up a little more, it will be perfection.

St. Phillips Street

Winter has struck again!  Damn this coldsnap and all it's accompanying layers! Summer colors are a great distraction however.  I love mixing stripes and colors with great basics (TOMS and Modalu bag). TGIF!

Tradd Street

Another chilly day in Charleston?? Has winter struck again?! Lord help us all if it is so.
In other news, I recently attended a jivamukti (?) yoga class at my gym and boy was it interesting.  Now, I haven't been to a yoga class in a while so my poor little dried-out muscles struggled to keep up with me.  Making this experience even more difficult interesting was the instructor only using the proper 'yogi' terms for the poses, as opposed to the traditional interpretation that I (and the rest of America) am used to (i.e. 'The Wheelbarrow', and 'The Crow').  There was also a moment during the final meditation that involved a massage with peppermint/eucalyptus oil that I was NOT expecting.  However, I will give the class another shot before I make a final decision.

King Street

Spring disappeared this morning and the air is now occupied by not-heat. :(  Therefore, today's ensemble features jeans; my least favorite article of clothing, yet the most practical in these unexpected incidents of cold-snaps.  So here's to a weekend of sunny skies & POOL TIME!

Broad Street

Sundresses and adorable (and comfortable!) wedges are essential to surviving living and working in Charleston. I love a bold print and neutral, but detailed, accessories.  And while I would be very reluctant to spend so much on a handbag, this one is beautiful.

Yesterday afternoon was spent at the beach :).  While it was a little chilly because of the wind, it was still wonderful to be in the sun and get sandy.

summer face

Well, despite my attempts to plan these posts/ensembles, Mother Nature got the best of me.  Therefore, the ensemble planned for today WILL NOT work, as the temperature is currently in the low 50's (what the what?!).  OH WELL.
Here instead are all the necessities for the perfect summer face and nails (peach for fingers, green for toes ;] ).

weekending

While my weekend doesn't officially start until Saturday afternoon (boohoo), I am definitely inspired to dress as if started yesterday.  Maxi skirts are perfect for the current weather (80-90 degrees already?!), with some ethnic accents to add some texture.  Rain or shine, this ensemble will take you through to next Monday.

vacation uniform part une

With tourist season on the rise, I have noticed how many people really don't care about their presentation while on vacation.  And while there is nothing wrong with that, there is also something to be said for taking a holiday opportunity to jazz  things up a bit.
Embracing my new-found state of hypocrisy, here is a bright yellow dress, perfect for strolling in the sun.

parisian in the sun

Walking the daily quarter-mile hike (two-ways) to the museum through the heart of sunny downtown Charleston has certainly inspired me to dress the part of Holly Golightly meets The Notebook.  With a nod to classic lines and this season's punchy neons, here is an ensemble inspired by my favorite season.
